A story of success from hard beginnings and strong pitfalls to a successful ending

After her husband became unemployed, Suzan wanted to help her family to live in dignity and secure their life’s necessities, that’s when she thought about getting a loan. She heard of FINCA Jordan from her uncle, where she thought of getting a loan to secure capitals for establishing her own business. In 2012, Suzan borrowed 1,700$ (Group loan) from North Shauna Branch.

Surely Suzan was able to open up a pastry shop for herself and immediately began working in her shop. The loan helped her business to be a huge success bringing her high profits. After a while however, the business starting regressing which eventually caused it to close down.

However, she was not hopeless especially after she became divorced and responsible of six children’s, on the contrary, what happened to her business and her life made her more determined to achieve what she wanted. With confidence, Suzan started working on her new project business; a factory that produces Jams made from natural citrus peels which became one of the most important and successful businesses in her area, especially that she is depending on healthy natural products of recycling citrus peels, which was available in huge quantities in North Shauna farms.

After the success of her business, Suzan cooperated with the Institute of professional training centers to train the local women in the art of making citrus peel Jams in different flavors, and getting them unemployed by providing them with an income to support their families.

By FINCA Jordan loans, Suzan business was able to create job opportunities for the youth group, raises their living standards and to improve her family life.

She succeeded to take responsibilities of her children’s by providing them with a decent house, education and to support her household expenses. Suzan is the best example of an empowered woman who succeeded in her life even though she is divorced.

Suzan is hopeful to take a bigger loan from FINCA Jordan to begin manufacturing new different products such as natural cosmetics, making natural Jam sandwiches for students in schools as to provide them with healthy sandwiches as part of a wholesome healthy diet.

Suzan has won many prizes, most importantly the CITI Micro Entrepreneurs Awards; the prize that she was nominated for by FINCA Jordan according to her great society achievements.in 2012, She won “ The Leadership Award “ in as a successful entrepreneur and in Dec 2015, she won another award from City bank and Jordan River Foundation, as she exclusively won The Award of Excellence” in which it is offered for one of the Jordan MFI entrepreneurs winners for their tremendous achievements on all previous years.

In December 2015, FINCA Jordan nominated Suzan for the award again because she sustained and developed her businesses, created jobs to many local people from her community in North Shouna and also, she trained young aged people to be enrolled and hired.

Nowadays, Suzan is thinking of an additional business which includes using excess citrus peel to use as a source for animal feed and she is taking advantage of the water used to wash oranges, as it contains alcohols to use in making cleaning supplies.
